Working Group 3 (WG3) promotes reusable, interoperable, and scalable components for Digital Twins of the Ocean – from observing systems and data repositories to models and user interfaces – by encouraging common architectures and design patterns that enhance efficiency and reduce costs across the global DTO community.
By connecting specialized communities, aligning existing initiatives, and proposing future collaborations, WG3 fosters shared understanding, best-practice exchange, common standards adoption, and identification of interoperability gaps, following the Information Management Framework for Environmental Digital Twins (IMFe) and the Gemini Principles. Key challenges, such as real‑time responsiveness, big data processing, and secure, interactive system design, are investigated.
